A decision was made on March 30, 2016 to proceed with the regulatory amendments as described below. The changes will take effect for the fall 2017 moose hunting season.
Amendment to O. Reg. 670/98 under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA) were made through O. Reg. 90/16, to implement the following changes:
The firearm moose hunting season in Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 53, 54, 55A, 55B, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 and 63 has been extended by one day (i.e., from six to seven days) and the start of the season shifted to begin on the Saturday closest to October 22 in any year.
The regulations were filed by the Registrar of Regulations on April 4, 2016 and were published in the Ontario Gazette on April 23, 2016.
