During the Stage 1 posting, MNRF received six responses through an online survey intended to solicit public input into what should be included in the draft government response statements. During the Stage 2 posting of the draft government response statements for Bank Swallow, Goldenseal and Loggerhead Shrike, MNRF received one online comment through the Environmental Registry and one comment submitted in writing.
The following is a summary of the substantive comments received on this proposal and MNRF’s response to address the comments.
The majority of comments submitted in writing were supportive and provided recommendations on how actions from the recovery strategies should be included in the government response statements. The comment submitted through the Environmental Registry was in relation to Loggerhead Shrike and provided recommendations for inclusion of additional information, and communicated concerns regarding the general habitat description for Loggerhead Shrike. One comment submitted in writing pertained exclusively to Massasauga (Carolinian population) and Massasauga (Great Lakes – St. Lawrence population), so the comment is being considered during the development of the draft GRS.
• Minor modifications were made to improve clarity and accuracy of contextual information and government-supported actions for Bank Swallow, Goldenseal and Loggerhead Shrike.
